Media Mindfulness is a seventy-five minute workshop for educators, parents, and catechists: one framework, three live demonstrations, and a take-home website you can use the next day. Everything on this site is bilingual in English and Spanish, printable, and free.
The method builds on Sister Nancy Usselmann's media mindfulness at the Pauline Center for Media Studies, on the five-hundred-year Ignatian Examen, and on Blessed James Alberione, the patron of media, who sanctified the printing press in 1914. His conviction then is the conviction here: the modern means of communication exist to lead all humanity to Christ. In 2026 that means is AI, social media, and the screens in our students' hands. Our job is not to reject the medium. It is to sanctify it.
Tom Ciszek is a parishioner at St. Clement in Santa Monica, a mentor in the "One Mission One Faith" Cohort 13, a husband, and a father. By trade he is a technologist: he spent years at Amazon Robotics, at Brain Corp building autonomous robots, and as a Palantir Fellow working on data systems. He now runs a company that indexes American manufacturers.
He teaches AI not as something he read about, but as something he builds. He knows how these systems work from the inside, and he knows what they do to the people who use them without thinking. That is why the method leads with prayer.
